Ardaas for iPhone and Android

Support

Compose a personal benti into the Ardaas, save it, and read it in Gurmukhi, transliteration and English.

Getting started

Tap + on the home screen to compose an Ardaas. Give it a label, choose which Ardaas to use, and write your benti in the Benti field. Save it, then tap it on the home screen to read the whole prayer with your benti in place.

Common questions

Where does my benti appear in the Ardaas?

At the traditional place for a personal supplication — after the passage beginning ਹੇ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਣ in the standard (SGPC) text, and after ਹੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਿਆਲ in the Buddha Dal text. The placement was researched against the Sikh Rehat Maryada and published practice guides.

What is the “…..” partway through the Ardaas?

It is a gap left for you to name what the prayer is for — the paath you have just finished, or an occasion such as a birthday, a new home, or someone's recovery. In the app it is the What it's for row. Choose an entry and it replaces the dots; choose None and the dots stay exactly as written, which is completely normal. You can change it at any time, from either the compose screen or the reader.

How do I write my benti in Gurmukhi?

Two ways. Type it directly by adding a Punjabi keyboard — on iPhone, Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard → Punjabi (Gurmukhi); on Android, add Punjabi in your keyboard's language settings (in Gboard: Gboard settings → Languages → Add keyboard → Punjabi) — or write in English and tap Translate to Gurmukhi.

Why does translation download something the first time?

Translation runs entirely on your phone, so the app has to fetch the translation model before it can work. It is a one-off download of roughly 358 MB, and the app tells you the size and asks before anything starts. Use Wi-Fi. Once it is on your phone, translation works offline and nothing you write is ever uploaded.

Is the translation reliable?

Treat it as a first draft. It is produced by a small machine-translation model, not by a person, and the app labels it as such. Read it before saving and edit the Gurmukhi if anything is off — the transliteration updates as you type.

Can I remove the downloaded model?

Yes. Use Remove Gurmukhi on a benti to drop its translated layers. Deleting the app removes the model and everything saved with it.

The text doesn't match the Ardaas I know

Different sampardas and different published gutkas carry real variations, which is why the app ships two distinct texts rather than pretending there is only one. If you believe something is genuinely wrong rather than a known variation, please report it — see below.

Reporting an error in the text

Scripture accuracy is treated as the most serious kind of defect in this app. Every change to the Gurmukhi is proof-read before it ships, and the sources for both texts are listed in the app under About & Sources.

If you spot an error, please report it with the passage and what it should say, and it will be checked against the sources and corrected.
